Articles

Below you will find a collection of articles or other writings I've done so far and find worth reading... Some of them are in German, some in English, sorry, I don't have the time or will to translate them all :)

English

The Workings of fr-08's Sound System, Part 1: The Concept
The Workings of fr-08's Sound System, Part 2: Why are SMF Files Smaller?
The Workings of fr-08's Sound System, Part 3: The Basic System
The Workings of fr-08's Sound System, Part 4: Let's Talk About Synthesizers

This article series (published in the scene mag PAiN, Issues 04/01 and 11/02) describes the inner secrets of the sound system and synthesizer I wrote for the 64k demo "The Product" (see demos page). If you're interested in whatever field of Audio Programming, I can recommend these texts, as they cover (or will cover, as soon I've finished writing all parts) just about every aspect that's needed to do a versatile, fully operational and workable software synthesizer system from scratch.

Better HAVE a life after christmas

A report from The Party 1998 by my good ole alter ego The Artist Formerly Known As Doctor Roole of ELITEGROUP. Full of disappointment and the reasons for it, but please be aware that The Party just gets better again. A Report of the good (!) The Party 2000 might follow.

F***ing learn to code again

An article I wrote for the demo scene disk magazine "Hugi", published in issue 14, spring 1999. It deals with the question "Why are today's demos so bad?", tries to find some answers and gives solutions, not without my usual polemic "you all suck" style, of course :)

An Audience with KB

Do I hear something about "marvelling in my own greatness" somewhere? Naah... the exaggerating statements in this interview I gave for another Hugi issue are all from the interviewer, not from me. I just reacted. Really :)

German

... seufz?

Well, uh, should I ever be write my own biography, this could be a chapter of it. Just read and enjoy... and any similarities to persons on the gallery page are, uh, correct at best.

WGT - Was wirklich war

A kind of "report" from the "Wave- und Gotik-Treffen 2000" in Leipzig, Germany, which was doomed to go down because of brutal mis-management, but still evolved to something cool. Warning: This text containes highly subjective points of view, reading other resources dealing with this topic is strongly advised. Thank you.

A reminder: All those articles are (C) Tammo Hinrichs 1998-2001, any copying, digital reproduction or reprinting is prohibited unless explicitly granted.
